Looking for Greek Myth Worksheets and Resources to Improve Reading Comprehension?

Mythology is a challenging curriculum area to fill, especially in elementary school. Many myths are written at a level far above that of young learners and often contain content that you cannot use in the classroom. This resource solves that problem by providing quality, classroom-appropriate text and activities to support young learners.

Our interactive Google Slides Greek mythology worksheets and activities will allow young learners to review critical reading comprehension skills, including theme, characterization, sequencing, and plot analysis. This resource centers around the myth of King Midas and the Golden Touch.

Through this activity, students will demonstrate knowledge with the following skills:

  • Reading grade-level text
  • Identifying the theme in a story
  • Analyzing a character using character traits
  • Using evidence from a text to support a statement
  • Writing a constructed response paragraph
  • Sequencing a story
  • Analyzing the plot of a story using a plot diagram.

Provide read-aloud accommodations as needed.

Provide sentence starters or sentence frames to assist students in writing their responses.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

Encourage students to read other Greek myths, fables, and folktales and identify the themes, character traits, and sequences.

Have students write a myth or folktale and share it with the class.

🧑‍🏫 Group Learning

Project the slides onto a screen and work through them as a class by having students record their answers in their notebooks or mini whiteboards.
