Rotational Symmetry: An Introduction

This 12-slide teaching presentation is designed to support you in introducing rotational symmetry and exploring the key concepts together with your students to establish understanding and application. Use it at the beginning of your rotational symmetry lessons to build knowledge.

Present the slides to the whole class or in small groups while students answer knowledge checks either verbally or in writing.

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

A team of dedicated, experienced educators created this resource to support your Geometry (Space) LESSONS. In addition to individual student work time, use this activity to enhance learning throug guided maths groups, whole class lessons, or as a review homework task.

If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners,  we have a few suggestions for keeping students on track with these concepts:

🆘 Support Struggling Students

Provide students with hands-on shapes like those in the knowledge checks that they can place a pencil in the middle of and manipulate.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

Students could find examples of objects in the environment around them that have rotational symmetry, sketch them and record the order of rotational symmetry for each.

🧑‍🏫 Group Learning

Project the slides onto a screen and work through them as a class by having students record their answers in their notebooks or mini whiteboards.
