A Paperless Lesson for Australian Government

Teachers always have a huge to-do list. The last thing you want to have to add to yours is mountains of photocopying! That’s where Teach Starter’s digital activities come into play.

This projectable digital activity has been designed to help your students consolidate their understanding of the roles and responsibilities of Australia’s three levels of government. It contains seven drag-and-drop activities including cloze passages, build a sentence, multiple choice questions and more!

Tips for Extension and Support

We know that teachers are doing their absolute best to provide differentiated instruction for the diverse needs of the learners in their classrooms. To help you achieve the best outcomes for your learners, here are some ideas for how you might differentiate the application of this resource.

  • Extend Your High Fliers: Why not set a timer to challenge your more-capable students? Students could compete against each other or against previous times to see how quickly they can recall the roles and their definitions.
  • Support Your Less-Confident Students: Allow less-confident students to access reference materials or websites (such as the Parliamentary Education Office website) so they can look up anything they are unsure about while completing the activity.

Multiple Applications for This Australian Government Activity

This versatile activity can be used in multiple ways in your Civics and Citizenship lessons. You might like to try some of the following suggestions:

  • Whole-class lesson (via smartboard)
  • Collaborative group activity
  • Independent work via tablet
  • Digital homework task
